Since 2021, Italy has been hit by a series of climate emergencies. The water crisis is at the core of these emergencies, but floods and tropical rains make us forget about it. In fact, for 1 in 3 Italians (according to ISPOS data), climate change is not a problem. However, for biodiversity, it is a matter of life and death: 30% of species dependent on freshwater are at risk of extinction. How can we showcase the causes of the water crisis and its consequences on Italian biodiversity?

Thus, WATERLESS was born, a three-day exhibition event that transforms data on the water crisis into works of art.

An artistic project aimed at showcasing how drought and climate change threaten our biodiversity, upon which the health and well-being of all of us depend. A glacier you can drink, a straw bomb, the scent of rain that no longer falls, a beehive wrapped in mud, and the centerpiece:

a 20-ton sculpture made of sand and earth, depicting the species most at risk of extinction in Italy, which, without water, slowly crumbles throughout the entire exhibition.
